Replacement part. Worn tie rods are common on older 2002, which contributes to sloppy steering and poor directional stability. Tie rods can be easily checked by grabbing them and moving them back and forth (or have a friend move the steering wheel while you hold them). There should be no slop at all in the joints (zero tolerance). If the boots are worn, you should plan or replacing them soon. Renewing the steering components can make a big difference in how your car drives - be sure to check the center link (track rod) as well. 2 per car (they are identical to one another)
